LBO, an excellent non-linear crystal in the ultraviolet band possesses good ultraviolet transmittance, wide transmission band, good optical uniformity, good physical and chemical properties, moderate non-linear optical coefficient, slightly deliquescence, large allowable angle, small walk-off angle and high damage threshold. So that, it can extensively be applied in high average power second harmonic, sum frequency, difference frequency, third harmonic, fourth harmonic and parametric oscillation field, such as second and third harmonic generation of YLF, YAG, YAP lasers and etc. Besides, LBO can also be used for noncritical phase matched laser frequency doubling, which can improve conversion efficiency of fundamental frequency light to make frequency light more stable and superior.
